The ability to build out that idea you’ve been dreaming of. The confidence to get into the field of web development. The guidance to learn how to code without the constant false starts.
Introducing From Idea To Launch, the online programming course that guides you through the entire process of building a complete web application, step by step, from no idea through to launching your app to real users.
Finally, the all-inclusive online training program that just works:
- Even if you’re brand new to web development
- Even if you’re overwhelmed and have no idea where to begin
- Even if you don’t have an application idea
Especially if you’re interested in breaking into the field as an up-and-coming web developer.
“I’ve already achieved more than I could have imagined with this course. The fact that I have the skills now to go ahead shows that your teaching methodology really works. I feel like I’ve struck gold here and I want other people who were in my situation to do the same.”
“You have done a very good job on the course – it’s filling the holes in my understanding and I can feel myself growing. And your approach to planning out your web app is gold. You’re doing the programming community a great service. Thanks mate!”
You’re sitting down at your computer to try and learn some coding… again.
You feel like you’re missing the big picture. Like you don’t know how the pieces fit together. And it’s frustrating. You’re starting to think “Maybe this just isn’t for me.”
“Is it really me, or… is it how I’m trying to go about learning this stuff???”
When you’re coding and things are clicking, it’s awesome.
Every time you code something successfully, you get a rush of euphoria. It’s like finding that ring that your girlfriend dropped on the beach. Or finding that puzzle piece that everyone, you mom your dad your brother your sister your dog your neighbors, EVERYONE just could not find. You know the feeling.
But when you’re coding and things aren’t going well, frankly, it sucks. It feels like all of your past progress has been just chucked right out the window. It feels like you’ll never get anywhere and that there’s just too damn much to learn.
I hear ya. I’ve been there too. I’ve gone through those same trials and tribulations, and I don’t want you to have to experience them any longer. I don’t want you to have to constantly struggle through learning to code anymore. I want the process to be fun, enjoyable, and rewarding for you.
And that’s exactly why I built this course and training program.
I’ve designed this course and training program from the ground up to provide the instruction, guidance, support, and personal accountability you need in order to break into web development and learn to build your own, real web applications.
It’s the result of years of research, interactions with other up-and-coming web developers just like yourself, and tens of thousands of hours of real-world experience in the field of web development.
The course will walk you through the process of building an entire Laravel web application, based on your own idea. (And don’t worry if you don’t already have an idea. The first thing I help you do is come up with, and validate, a good application idea.)
How Is From Idea To Launch Different?
I walk you through the process, step by step, so all you have to do is follow along with the lessons. You’ll never have to wonder “What do I need to learn next?” I took that out of the equation for you. All you have to do is go through Lesson 1, then Lesson 2, and so on. And at the end, you’ll have a complete web application that you, yourself, built along the way.
What’s the Course Like?
Here are some highlights of the course’s structure:
- Short, comprehensive lessons, each one is ~10-20 minutes long, so you can work through them at your own pace
- Video-based, with screencast-style lessons where I walk you through all of the setup and coding
- Extra resources are provided alongside each lesson, including additional worksheets and guides to reinforce the topics
Inside the From Idea To Launch System
From Idea To Launch includes an intuitively organized set of video coursework, step-by-step programming walkthroughs, coding exercises, worksheets, and more — all presented inside of a beautiful online interface.
To create the material in From Idea To Launch, I broke down every step of the process of building a complete web application. All the way from coming up with your idea through to launching your application online.
Module 1: Your Idea
- I’ll walk you through exercises to help you generate potential web application ideas, so don’t worry if you don’t already have something in mind.
- Then I’ll help you validate and select a single idea for your new application.
- And you’ll learn how to break down that idea into its core components to prepare to begin building your application.
Module 2: Your Setup
- You’ll set up a full, professional-grade development environment on your own computer.
- I’ll teach you how to use the command line to interact with your computer. (Don’t worry, it’s not nearly as scary as you think.)
- You’ll learn how to get setup with and use Git and GitHub to backup and share all of the code files you’ll be creating throughout the course. And I’ll walk you through all of the commands you need to know and explain how each one works.
Module 3: Your Basic Web Application
- We’ll discuss the core fundamentals of all web applications and how web apps function from a high level.
- Then, before diving into your full Laravel application, I’ll walk you through creating an initial, basic version of your application.
- You’ll learn how all of the pieces of an application function together in order to create and display real pages. And you’ll have a solid foundation on which to continue on to build your full Laravel app.
Module 4: Your Full Web Application
- This is it, the big one. You’ll take your application idea and gradually bring it to life, building a full Laravel PHP web application.
- I’ll show you how to design, create, and communicate with your database to store all of your application’s data.
- You’ll plan out and design all of your application’s different pages along the way, learning how to draw out wireframes for each one.
- You’ll learn the ins-and-outs of Laravel and use it to gradually build your own web application from the ground up, step by step. And, before you know it, it will be time for your launch!
Module 5: Your Launch
- You programmed your entire application — now it’s time to launch it! I’ll show you how you work with different environments and prepare your application to be released.
- I’ll give you step-by-step instructions to launch your application and make it publicly-accessible on the Internet.
- And I’ll show you how to associate a custom domain name with your application, so, before you know it, your friends can check out http://[your-awesome-app].com to see what you created.
What Skills and Technologies Will You Learn?
I focus on teaching you real skills in the course. Skills that you’ll be able to apply for years to come. You’ll be learning how to be a web developer, not just “how to write some code.”
I’m big on skills, because I want this course to set you up as a successful web developer into the future.
Here are a handful of the skills you’ll learn in the course:
- How to set up your own complete development environment
- How to work with Git and GitHub
- How to properly use the command line
- How to design and create a MySQL database
- How to draw wireframes to design your application’s pages
- How to use Bootstrap to create responsive, modern designs
- How to design and build a complete Laravel MVC web application
- How to implement user accounts and access control
- How to launch your application with a custom domain name
And here’s a taste of the languages and technologies you’ll learn to work with throughout the course:
From Idea To Launch Is Much More Than Just a Course
It’s really a “comprehensive training program.” But that sounds a bit … vague. So let me explain what I mean in clearer terms.
There’s more to it than just the online course. Because even if someone is presented with The Best Online Course In The World™, that still doesn’t mean that they’re inclined to put in the time to work all the way through it.
Just having access to the content — the course — isn’t enough. (If it was, everyone would be a successful programmer. After all, there are plenty of learn-to-code resources on the Internet.)
What really makes a huge difference is receiving guidance and support — and being held personally accountable — as you’re doing the work. And that’s where the magic — the other aspects — of From Idea To Launch come in. The “comprehensive” piece.
In addition to the course, you’ll also get the following.
Access to an exclusive Slack Community of other From Idea To Launch members
You’ll get to join the private From Idea To Launch Slack Member Community with all of the other course members.
Being a part of a community is one of the most important ways to accelerate your growth. When you’re around other like-minded people interested in learning the same things as you, you immediately become more invested. You’ll get to talk about and share what you’re working on, get advice and feedback, and help others.
SUCCESS STORY: How Ronan Used From Idea To Launch To Build His Education Game Application and Launch To 400+ Users
Ronan used From Idea To Launch to build his own online classroom game application, Baamboozle, in less than 3 months. And he launched with a bang (or is that a baam?) – he already has over 400(!) users and his application is being used by teachers all over the world.
“Before being taken under Alex’s wing I thought I was doing quite fine on my programming journey. But within weeks of joining From Idea To Launch, my progress had hockey-sticked to levels I had never thought possible. A few short months later and I’m sitting pretty on the app of my dreams, with hundreds of users along for the ride.
I cannot stress enough just how different this course was to the countless others I’ve taken before. Alex’s teaching methods are exceptionally sound. The mixture of videos tutorials, community discussions and always-on support are simply the recipe for success.”
There’s nothing stopping you from doing the same thing as Ronan.
About Your Instructor
Hey there, I’m Alex Coleman. I’ve been building and launching applications on the web for the past 10 years and teaching other people, like yourself, how to do the same for the past four years. I also run a successful web development consulting practice where I help businesses launch websites and web applications to improve their bottom line.
I, myself, am a self-taught programmer, and learning to code is hands-down the best thing I’ve ever done for myself professionally. I’ve taken everything I’ve learned about programming and packed it into this course and training program to make your learning experience as effective and enjoyable as possible.
I’m excited to help you learn to build and launch your very own web application.
Testimonials from Other Students
“I’ve literally tried every coding ‘how to’ course out there and I usually sail right through them and then consequently feel like a genius. The feeling quickly fades when I attempt to go out on my own and code something useful from scratch. Alex’s course was different. It starts by helping you come up with a project that you care about and then systematically walks you through the whole web development process. It helped me understand the ‘why’ behind each function that I coded.”
“I trust my skills in this area to Alex, one great tutor and coach.”
Alex’s course is a fantastic opportunity to get started with your own Laravel web application project. There’s no prior knowledge needed whatsoever. I’ve never seen any training with so much personal tutoring, tips and one-on-one help. Thanks Alex!
“Alex has a very patient, painstaking approach to teaching how to code that is approachable and relatable even to complete beginners. And best of all, he takes the time to make sure that you know why you’re doing things in certain ways. It makes me wonder why I didn’t have teachers like him in school.”
“Alex’s course literally makes me feel empowered. In the near future, every job will have some sort of technology built into it — if you are technical and well-versed in coding, you’re that much ahead of your competition.”
“Alex’s course presents information in a clear, coherent manner, which I think is so crucial. The flow of each lesson is great.”
”The course lessons are well designed, your diction is very good, and the code you show is clean and fully covers the subject you are presenting. In one word: perfect.”

Frequently Asked Questions
“Is From Idea To Launch right for me?”
“What if I try From Idea To Launch, and I decide it isn’t right for me?”
I stand by this course with a 60-day 100% money-back guarantee. Because I’ve extensively tested it, I know the course works, so I can take on the risk. But with that said, sometimes things just aren’t a good fit. So if you join the course, do the work, and get no results, just send me an email and I’ll issue you a refund.
“Can I do this, even if I’m not good at math?”
Yes! I get asked this a lot. But honestly, there really isn’t a whole lot of math involved in the programming of applications. (Sure — there is plenty involved behind different theories, but you don’t need to worry about stuff that nitty gritty unless it’s of interest to you.)
Are some people “cut out” for programming and others not?
From my experience, no. The people who succeed are the ones willing to stick with it and put in the time, day after day. Progress comes with consistency. So while you might pick things up a bit faster than someone else, it’s really all about staying accountable and consistently doing the work.
“Do I need to have a specific operating system for this course?”
No — you’ll be fine on a Mac, on Windows, or on Linux. The course itself is all online-based, so you’ll be able to access it from any web browser. As for the programming, I walk you through how to install the necessary programming tools on all operating systems.
“If I’ve already done some exercises in a different language, like Ruby or Python, will this course still be useful?”
Yes. In coding, most of the general principles apply to all of the different languages. So even if you use this course and learn all of these fundamentals using Laravel and PHP, you’ll be able to apply them universally. I focus on concepts, not just the code itself.
“Will this course help me if I want to build iPhone or Android apps?”
The planning aspects (coming up with and validating an idea) might be helpful, but this course is focused around building a web application, not a mobile application. If you want to build iPhone or Android applications, I recommend you search udemy.com for some good all-inclusive course options.
How From Idea To Launch Works
“What will From Idea To Launch teach me?”
It will teach you how to: 1) come up with an idea for your own web application; 2) validate that idea to make sure it will work as a web application; 3) build your application, step by step; 4) launch your application. New modules are also added every week that will guide you through all kinds of different web application-related topics.
“How much time do I need to commit to the course every week?”
That’s up to you. You can take the course at your own pace, but, of course, investing more time generally yields more progress. No matter how little or how much time you have available, the real key is consistency.
If you commit to putting in some amount of time at least 2-3 days a week, you will make progress and be able to work through the course and build your application. I recommend completing at least 2-3 lessons a week — and since each lesson is only ~20 minutes long, this should be very doable in most situations.
Will this work…?
“What if I don’t even have an application idea?”
You do not need an application idea to join From Idea To Launch. I’ll show you exactly how to brainstorm great web application ideas in the first Module of the course. I’ll help you pick a single idea and validate it to make sure it will work for your application so you definitely start off on the right path.
“How do I know if the idea I have for an application will work or not?”
I cover exactly that in the second lesson of the course. You’ll put your ideas through an “idea quiz” to determine if they would be a good fit for a web application. And I teach you how to adapt your idea and make sure the idea you pick is one that will definitely work.
“How is From Idea To Launch different form other courses on the market?”
From Idea To Launch is the first comprehensive course that not only teaches you how to build an entire web application, but teaches you how to build an application based on your own idea. Not a to-do list, or a Pinterest clone. My extensive research shows that people make, by far, the most progress when they’re working on a project that: 1) has real-life implications; and 2) they actually care about. From Idea To Launch uses that core idea to guide you through building a real application, step by step, that you actually care about and are invested in.
“If I’ve never done any programming before, will this still work for me?”
You’ll most likely need to do some extra supplemental work on your own, but the course way the course is designed, if you’re willing to put in the work, you should definitely be able to follow along and learn to build your own web application. You’ll also benefit greatly from the support of the Member Community.
“How much help am I going to get?”
In short, plenty. Or as much as you seek. You’ll also have access to the Member Community as a forum to ask questions and interact with all of your fellow course members. And you’ll always have a chance to get your questions answered by me, personally.
